Memories of a Aztec Rugby
A continuación una anécdota de un Azteca de los 70's tal y como le escribió a Manolo. Espero sirva para enterarnos de la Historia que tiene nuestro equipo.
Hello, Emmanuel. I wish I had pictures of the Aztecas from those days. I went to the U of A in 1974/5. Ichy was our Captain - a little fire plug of a guy with a big heart. I remember one game we played at the Reforma Club in Mexico City where they carried 4 of our guys off the field. We still won. I remember that one guy on the opposite team was discovered to be wearing metal cleats and was cutting our guys up pretty bad. We talked about it in our huddle and the next play we took him out - they had to carry him off the field. We beat the French Army but never could beat the English Barbarians - they had too much finesse though they were an older team. Our jerseys were black and green, I think. Do you all still do the dance and song of the "Zulu Warrior" after every game?
I have another old friend back near Chicago who played the year before I did - I'll contact him and ask him for any information he might have.
How I miss the U of A. I went home to Indiana in the US for the holidays and ended up jumping out of an airplane and had a pretty bad parachute accident and did not get back to Mexico. I never did find out what happened to my guitar that I had left with a gal there. It was beautiful - I had bought it in Puebla - hand made.
Talk to you soon, Emmanuel.

Prancer I Love Money 2
Saturday at Colegio La Salle
On Saturday April 21, 1916 Aztecs stood in the field of Tasmania and played with courage and heart in a game in which the weight of the scrum was the factor that would desbalanceante for bulky marker for Tasmania. Aztec
alignment was as follows: 1. Iker, 2. King, 3. Bronson, 4. Manolo, 5. Mauritius, 6. Fernando (new member of the Aztecs), 7. Andy, 8. Man, 9. Ed, 10. Spain, 11. Toño, 12. Joseph, 13. Tanguy, 14. Tibo 15. Juan. In banking was Elijah, 16, who hoped to play his first game. For the Aztecs
they had to receive and began the game at full speed, moving and forming rucks. Tasmanian players were shocked and five minutes into the game having committed a penalty just outside his 22 meter line, which John turned into 3 points. The onslaught continued and Tazmania Aztecs could not settle in the area and a multi-phase play Manolo ran three meters and entered the Tasmanian zone leading to two top defenders. Several players jumped on Manolo Aztecs to help and support the ball down while several players from Tasmania did likewise to prevent the touchdown. Under the mound of bodies could not see if Manolo had managed to support the ball and when the referee decided that it was approached touchdown. Tazmania
reorganized and began to play with their forwards and soon after picked up his first touchdown. After that Tasmania was able to maintain control of the ball winning almost every scrum and scored another 3 times. Shortly before the end of the first time John returned to convert a penalty in another 3 points. Tazmania scored again before the end of the first half.
With the whistle that marked the break it started to rain and even hail in the 10 minute break. For the start of the second time it rained. Elias entered the field, replacing Tibo, for his first game as Azteca. In addition Tazmania stage had possession most of the time and the Aztecs had to defend with little opportunity to attack. Most Tasmanian entries arrived forwards game with the Aztecs retreating again and again. Despite giving a great effort in the field the Aztecs could not avoid the bulky result from 6 to 60.

In good time!
For a long time Aztec players have wanted to have a website where we can share our passion for rugby. Several proposals passed by the board of the team, but lack of time and resources could not be implemented. After analyzing the ease of use of blogs and the desire to create a space in which the Aztecs to participate with the team out of training and games, decided to start this blog. We hope to become a community where everyone can participate and encourage contact us with ideas for topics and sections you would like to see in this virtual community.
At the moment we have three journals. 1) Every Monday, if there was game over the weekend, we'll get the score of the game and try to complement this with the other results in the league. 2) On Wednesday's introduce the players of the Aztecs. 3) On Friday we will raise the picture of the week to encourage everyone to Saturday's game.
Any questions or comments directed to thank you for the aztecasrugby@gmail.com. A Sincerely, John.
