Enigma is a German electronic music project created by Michael Cretu in 1990, in collaboration with David Fairstein and Frank Peterson. Cretu, who have set up their studios ART Studios in Ibiza (Spain) since the early 90's, is both the composer and the producer of the project. His ex-wife Sandra had worked vocally in some areas of the discs of Enigma, Jens Gad while playing guitar in four of the Enigma albums.
Seven studio albums have been produced under the name of the project to date. The first and most successful, MCMXC aD, sold in 1994 14 million copies worldwide.
Cretu had been one of the first people to be building a private digital recording studio at home, and include vocal samples and percussion musical elements into his recordings not like Gregorian chants and the shakuhachi flute.
