Colombian race car driver, born on September 20, 1975 in Bogota. At an early age began racing in karts at the instigation of his father Pablo Montoya. From there he was climbing various categories in the case in Colombia, Mexico, USA and the UK.
His first major step in the formulas established in 1997 when he participated in the FIA \u200b\u200bInternational Formula 3000, which won the following year. In 1999 he moved across the Atlantic and participated in the Formula CART in the U.S., as their champion crowned at the first attempt with the team of Chip Ganassi. After being test driver for Williams before moving to America, Montoya returned to the Formula 1 team as a race driver for 2001. In his first season as a winner is crowned the Grand Prix at Monza.
